Shellac record no. 6 was a single released and distributed at a show they played in Bremen. The band's name on the 7" is "Shellack" and everything on the record is in German. the A side is a live recording of "billiardspielerlied" from the comedy club performance of '95. the b-side is called "mantel" and apes the Venom single on Ecstatic Peace where they were just talking btw. songs. it's a cut-up of them talking about a green coat that's somewhere in the audience to a not entirely English speaking crowd. best part is when Bob says, "That's not a coat, that's a flannel shirt ... I can't understand you."
It is a 7" with on the a side Billardspielerlied and is recorded live in Streit Komoedien Klub, Chikago on July 2 1995 (Yes the record is in German) The B side is Mantel and is live recorded at Paradiso, Amsterdam Netherlands on February 16 1995
It was recorded at the Paradiso in Amsterdam during the infamous Tegentonen Festival, also featuring Faust, Space Streakings, Brice Glace and others on that night. Shellac were to perform as the last band of the evening, and right before they came on stage, Rob Weston realized that someone had stolen is coat. The track is just a cut-up of various attempts by the band members to motivate every member of the audience to help Rob to find that beloved coat again... They talked about that coat between every goddamn song.
Oh, and the 7" wasn't exclusively given away at that festival in Bremen. I got mine through a German mailorder that seemed to have bought the copies that were leftovers of that festival.
